Holiday Bliss

As usual I am behind. Here it is two weeks until Christmas, and I haven't even posted about our wonderful Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving was very nice. This year Thanksgiving was Iowan style. Kenna and Q have become quite the travelers! For the most part the trip there and back was pretty uneventful, if you don't count Kenna getting sick as we rolled into town (I was so scared she had waited until we got all the way there to get sick, but it was probably a combo of motion sick and the milk we gave her...??) Thanksgiving was at Aunt Karen and Uncle Chucks' house. Kenna got a little dose of farm life, mingling with the cats and riding in a tractor. After Thanksgiving, it was back to the Lake House. Friday was a pretty lazy day and Matt helped dad move some dirt. Q rolled over for the first time, and Kenna swung in the frigid temps! Uncle Jim and Aunt Marge came out Friday evening and we had a great dinner and played Mexican Domino Train. Saturday was equally lazy, we all hung around the house and enjoyed the company.

The week after Thanksgiving we traveled to Highland, Illinois to see Aunt Kelly. In Highland's town square they have a Christmas display. There were several little "houses" with scenes to look at, as well as Santa's Hut.Kenna wasn't so sure of Santa. We talk about Santa and read about Santa all the time, you would think the girl wouldn't be scared of him. She was more than happy to talk to him and show him her purse and tag she was holding, but she refused to sit on his lap. We also went into a cute gift shop and had some delicious cupcake pops from the bakery in town. Kenna also had her first Candy Cane, and I think she liked it! :)
When we returned from Highland we decorated the Christmas Tree. Mckenna and I decorated the tree while Matt hung some lights in our front window, and Quentin hung out with Papa John and MawMaw.  Mckenna was a lot of fun to watch. She had her own little ornaments to hang and she hung them all in the same spot. Decorating the tree was so much different this year, more of a "family" thing rather than a "Jenna" thing. And I like it, I can't wait for even more help next year!

So, Holiday Bliss, yes we have it! :) The presents are wrapped and waiting to be opened, and Matt and I are ready for a week off! I am hoping to do my next post on the kids and their developmental milestones. (That is if I get another post in before Christmas!)

Have a great week! Love from the Lucas Family!

My big sister is always close by,

she watches close as mom snaps pictures,
She lays on the ground and teaches me to play.
My big sister shows me how to interact with the Jumparro, even when I'm not looking.
My sister makes me light up and smile,
and she even makes me pout sometimes!
My big sister makes sure I am properly fed,
she even gives me kisses when I'm playing,
or pushing up on my belly in the sun!
My big sister thinks it's funny when I lay next to her in bed,
and holds my hand as she reads to me.
I love my big sister! ~Quentin

Halloween Happenings

Did you know.... The CARDINALS WON THE WORLD SERIES?
Not the best picture, Kenna was itchy and Q was scared for his life!
After picking out the perfect pumpkins at the Pumpkin Patch a couple of weeks ago Mckenna got to paint hers. She was so excited to get the paint out and decorate her "punkins"! They weren't your traditional pumpkins with a cheesy face but a work of art! See for yourself!

We had a great Halloween weekend! Mom and dad were here for the weekend and we took advantage of the great weather and festivities. On Saturday we loaded the cars up and headed to our favorite summer spot, the ZOO! The whole crew went, John, Charlene, Mom, Dad and Matt, the kids and myself. The Zoo sponsored a trick-or-treating event and had several booths open for little kids to walk by and get their candy, bracelet or even a toothbrush!

On Sunday, Dad was able to see Kenna at The Little Gym. It happened to be wear your costume day so I had the camera to document the occasion, of course!

Monday was Trick-or-Treating. We had pizza and carved a pumpkin at John and Charlene's before going out trick-or-treating. This may become our yearly tradition...
They almost have the same "concentration" face! :)

And... On Tuesday, we all had a Halloween Hangover! What a good time and great memories we made!

Have a great week! Love from The Lucas Family!

It's Finally Fall!

I have been burning my "Pumpkin Patch" candle for a couple of weeks now but with 80 degree weather it just didn't feel like fall! But low and behold the cool front has passed through, sweaters have been pulled out and jackets are worn out of the house. For the record, it got a little too cool for my liking but 65-70 degree weather is on its way back this weekend!

Last weekend Q had his first visit to the pumpkin patch and Kenna had her second. We went back to the same farm as last year and we were pleased to see they had made some changes but some of Kenna's favorites were still there. In true Kenna fashion she was shy and reserved for the first 30 minutes or so and then really got into it. She was a little more reserved when it came to climbing the mountains of straw and sliding down the slides. Kenna also rode a horse for the first time. When they put her on the horse she started to panic but thanks to the movie Tangled she gave it a try! She loved it! Smiling, pointing and talking the man's ear off the whole time! :)

We had a ton of fun watching Mckenna slowly warm up to the Pumpkinland and eventually going from place to place to try everything! It was a day to remember. Hopefully we can go back every year because where else can you get your picture taken next to a giant pumpkin measuring stick?
Have a great weekend! Love from the Lucas Family!

The Birthday Girl!

So this girl...
is TWO! TWO, I can't believe it! But really, I can't believe how fast time goes by and her birthday was actually two weeks ago! SO, the highlights...

We started off at the doctor's office for a check up for my TWO year old and TWO month old! Both are growing like weeds and are as healthy as can be!
Then a trip to the zoo was in order! Charlene, Mckenna, Quentin and I spent a glorious Tuesday afternoon  soaking up the Autumn sun and animals! Each time we go to the zoo I try to do something new. This time we saw the sting rays. Charlene was the only brave one to stick her hand in the water and have the slimy things swim under her! Mckenna enjoyed watching, that is for sure!
After the zoo we went home for naps! We had to get ready for the big party that night! Mckenna invited some of her friends to McDonald's for dinner and playing! It ended up being Mckenna and her two boyfriends, Michael and Carson. They ran around that place for about an hour and a half, it was too cute!
And we ended the week with a party filled with family and fun! Mckenna dressed in her new tu-tu and sparkly number 2 shirt and ran around the house like a crazy girl! She was blessed with lots of love and cool gifts that day!
Oh yeah.... did I mention Auntie Lala was here?
We had a great week celebrating Mckenna's 2nd birthday and I think I might finally have recouped!

This guy... he's TWO months old already!                And this girl...she's TWO years old!

(sigh) Be still my heart, be still!

Have a great week, or two weeks or maybe even three weeks (since I can't seem to find the time to update)! Love from the Lucas Family!

Oh yeah, GO CARDS!!!!!
