IT WAS A VERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

We had such a nice first Christmas with Mckenna! We spent Christmas Eve with Matt's family at his Grandma Lucas's house.
Christmas morning Matt, Mckenna and I opened gifts. Who says a 3 month old can't open gifts? We prayed and prayed that Grandma and Grandpa VonBon would make it down on Christmas day... and they did. I was so HAPPY that they made it. We had such a good weekend. Friday Matt's family came over and we had roast, turkey, and all the traditional sides. We opened gifts...

and Saturday we went bowling! The picture below is Mckenna Sleeping at the bowling ally.
We hope you all had a great Christmas like we did! Our LOVE TO YOU ALL!

Christmas is comming....

...you can feel it in the air! Today we took John and Charlene to the church we have been attending. The service was very nice, it was their Christmas service. Mckenna wore her Christmas dress and before we left I had a chance to snap a few pictures. The picture above is the best I could do to get all of our "kids" in the picture! Mckenna is such a good sport and humors her mother and allows me to take a million pictures with the hopes of getting that perfect one!

Just three more days of work and Christmas will be here. We plan on spending Christmas Eve with Matt's family at his Grandma's house. Christmas day we have our fingers crossed that Grandma and Grandpa VonBon will be able to make it down here for the weekend. We look forward to waking up Christmas morning and beginning our very own Christmas traditions! Have a very Merry Christmas! I will have plenty to post next weekend! Love you all!

All Smiles!

Just another weekend in the Lucas house! We finished our Christmas shopping on Saturday and spent the rest of the weekend relaxing. Mckenna is really starting to get a personality and we love to make her smile! She really knows her daddy's voice and she hangs on EVERY word he says! We noticed last week that she is starting to look at us when we walk by. The other day I was in the other room and when I came in talking to Matt she looked right at me. It is heartwarming knowing that she knows who we are! I can tell that she is growing- she looks so long when Matt holds her and she is starting to get chunky little hands! :)

Have a good week! Love to all!

SANTA!

When we came home from work last night Mckenna was all dressed up with no place to go. So we decided, what the heck, let's go visit SANTA! The only thing Mckenna needed for her beautiful Christmas dress was a pair of new shoes, so our first stop was the shoe store! After standing in line for about twenty minutes Mckenna got to sit on Santa's lap. She was such a good sport and didn't even cry!

A Visit to the Doctor!

We went to the doctor yesterday and I thought I would give you all a quick update. Mckenna now weighs 9lbs 11oz and is 22 inches long. Dr. Dorfman said that she is a little below average for her age... that would explain why everyone thinks she is so petite. It was really cute when they were weighing her she was moving so much that the scale took a long time to register her weight. She had four shots, two in each leg and one orally. Matt and I just stood and watched as the two nurses ganged up on her! She let out a scream when they stuck her and it was hard to get her to calm down when they were done. Poor baby! I was thankful that Matt went along with me! She slept quite well last night after her traumatic afternoon and I was happy to get a night of uninterrupted sleep!

... No Dad... her thumb is NOT in her mouth!

We Are Thankful...

...For Mckenna Grace
... For family that loves us
...For the house we live in
...For our steady jobs
...For so many things that we can't list them all!

Thanksgiving was extra special for us this year! We spent the holiday weekend in Iowa with the VonBon family. Mckenna seemed to fare the long 7 hour trip to Karen and Chuck's home in Templeton, Iowa quite well. She was a little crabby once we got there but she was a trooper in the car. This trip we brought Patches and Rylie along and they did quite well too! Both dogs took turns sleeping on Mckenna's car seat, it was so cute!

Friday we spent the day with Grandma and Grandpa VonBon and Great Uncle Jim and Auntie Marge. We all spent some quality time playing and watching Mckenna. It is fun to watch her facial expressions and look into her expressive eyes. Jim was lucky enough to have her cuddle up on his shoulder!

Friday evening Laura and Chris returned from Hawaii and joined us at the lake. Saturday Laura and I spent some time together while Matt and Chris stayed home with Mckenna. Sunday we went to church and then hit the road. It was a great weekend and we were not ready to go back to reality!

Happy Belated Thanksgiving to you all! Love from The Lucas Family!

Hanging Out

Well... I survived my first full week at work! It was a full week of reacquainting myself to my students and my classroom! It was hard for all of us to get on a schedule. By Friday Mckenna seemed to be getting used to things, she was sleeping through the night until Friday then she started to wake up wanting to eat again... maybe she is going through a growth spurt!

Friday night Matt and I went to dinner and a movie. We went to see The Blind Side... a must see for everyone! It was so good! We really had a good time together! Saturday we got our early Christmas present from John and Charlene, new furniture. If you have been to our house you know that we NEEDED new furniture, you will no longer sink into our couch! We rented a movie Saturday night and just hung out, the three of us, a family night! Mckenna spent much of our time hanging out sleeping on my chest and Rylie curled up next to us... a picture perfect opportunity.
Here's to another SHORT work week! Happy Thanksgiving to all!
