Did it take 27 or 30 years...

to understand and truly value our parents? NO!!!! But we were reminded just how important family is this weekend. As I started to think about what I was going to blog about this week I couldn't help think about how wonderful both my parents and Matt's parents have been the last 27 or 30 years of our life. No matter what it is they are there to help us out. Whether it is buying the latest contraption to help Mckenna sleep or putting in a long day's work on our house, they are ALWAYS there for us. We truly appreciate EVERYTHING they do for us! THANK YOU TO BOTH OUR PARENTS!

This weekend our new washer/dryer were delivered but before they could be installed Matt and Dad had A TON of work to do. More than Matt bargained for, I think! They spent much of Saturday installing new duct work for the dryer. I am so happy that Dad was able to come down to help. While the boys worked Mom, Charlene, Mckenna and I went shopping. Charlene was so generous and purchased many outfits for this spring, summer and next fall and Mom purchased Mckenna's Easter gift... just wait till you see what it is! :)

Mckenna update: Mckenna is officially 4 months old. Still NOT interested in rolling over. This weekend we noticed that she is noticing her FEET! It was so cute to watch her pull up her pant legs and look at her legs/feet. She is really starting to move around on her back. She seems to dig her heels in and scooch around. Last night Matt laid her down in one place and watched her move on her back to a new location to play with a certain toy on her play gym. When you hold her these days she either wants to sit straight up or stand up. She LOVES to look at the sights around her. Maybe she won't roll and she will go right to standing up and walking. :) Who knows!

Productive Weekend!

This weekend was pretty slow around the Lucas house. We stayed in much of the weekend! Saturday I painted the bathroom and Matt hung the new towel bars. Sunday we went to church and I painted the area behind the washer and dryer. They both look really nice and give a boost to our house!

Mckenna spent much of the weekend playing!
Still loving life! Have a good week!

A Quick Trip

Friday night Mckenna and I decided to travel to Iowa for the weekend. I had Monday off and Laura wanted my expertise in registering, so we packed up to surprise everyone! Laura cried and Mom's jaw dropped to the ground so it made the 5+ hour drive worth it! Sunday Laura and I registered for that little baby girl Meade while Mckenna went to Great Uncle Jim and Auntie Marge's house. Laura and I had a good time looking at all of the latest and greatest baby items! Sunday night Mckenna spent some much needed time with Grandma and Grandpa VonBon. Matt stayed home to celebrate John's birthday. While I was gone he worked on our bathroom. It looks great! All it needs now is a fresh coat of paint!

Mckenna's new trick! She is starting to hold the bottle on her own!

Auntie Lala and Baby Meade. Mckenna is wearing her new hat made by Grandma VonBon

Uncle Chris and Mckenna had a ball playing together!

Grandpa VonBon put Mckenna to sleep on Saturday night! They were all snuggled up and warm!

Boppy, Binki, Bumbo, Bottle....

four words we use on a regular basis around here! For those that have not been in babyworld for some time let me tell you... a boppy is a pillow like thing shaped in a c; a binki is how we refer to the pacifier; a Bumbo is a seat looking thing that gives a beginner at sitting up support; and a bottle, you know what that is! I was thinking about this as I was following my afternoon routine. I come home from work, pick up the living room, do the dishes, throw Mckenna's PJ's from the previous night into the laundry and then most nights I start the laundry as I anxiously await Mckenna's (oh and Matt's too) arrival. Wow the adventures and life changes you can have in a year! Yes, it was about a year ago, this weekend, that we found out Mckenna would be changing our lives forever!

So, an update on Mckenna. She is not rolling over yet, she doesn't even seem like she wants to anymore. When she gets upset she will dig her heals in and act like she is going to roll but she gives up! She is growing, however, Matt and I don't notice the physical growth as much as the growth in her motor skills. She is really noticing things. She will play with our faces and it seems like she is getting VERY vocal. Little screeches and sticking her tongue out and spitting! :) LOTS of smiles and she seems to be a very HAPPY baby! We are having fun showing Mckenna how to play with many different NEW toys!

WE ARE LOVING LIFE!!!

IT WAS A VERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

We had such a nice first Christmas with Mckenna! We spent Christmas Eve with Matt's family at his Grandma Lucas's house.
Christmas morning Matt, Mckenna and I opened gifts. Who says a 3 month old can't open gifts? We prayed and prayed that Grandma and Grandpa VonBon would make it down on Christmas day... and they did. I was so HAPPY that they made it. We had such a good weekend. Friday Matt's family came over and we had roast, turkey, and all the traditional sides. We opened gifts...

and Saturday we went bowling! The picture below is Mckenna Sleeping at the bowling ally.
We hope you all had a great Christmas like we did! Our LOVE TO YOU ALL!

Christmas is comming....

...you can feel it in the air! Today we took John and Charlene to the church we have been attending. The service was very nice, it was their Christmas service. Mckenna wore her Christmas dress and before we left I had a chance to snap a few pictures. The picture above is the best I could do to get all of our "kids" in the picture! Mckenna is such a good sport and humors her mother and allows me to take a million pictures with the hopes of getting that perfect one!

Just three more days of work and Christmas will be here. We plan on spending Christmas Eve with Matt's family at his Grandma's house. Christmas day we have our fingers crossed that Grandma and Grandpa VonBon will be able to make it down here for the weekend. We look forward to waking up Christmas morning and beginning our very own Christmas traditions! Have a very Merry Christmas! I will have plenty to post next weekend! Love you all!
