On The Move!

Can you guess what this is?
Or how about this?
What about this?
Ok... I will stop! Look at Mckenna in her new walker. Grandma and Grandpa Lucas bought her a walker that we bring home every once in a while and Mckenna LOVES it! Gotta love the over sized pink Cardinals hat... we were cheering on the Cardinals and thought Mckenna should too! :)
We have not had such a good week in the Lucas household. Mckenna has decided to wake several times during the night and sometimes needs a bottle in the wee hours of the morning. I have been teaching 8th grade because my team went to camp. Boy those 8th graders are a tough crowd. I am thankful that I teach 6th! I am looking forward to another good weekend. The weather is supposed to be in the 60's a big change since it has been in the 80's most the week!

I wanted to add this picture....
of Mckenna sleeping. Last Sunday we were up playing early in the morning. I had my blanket and pillow on the floor as Mckenna and I were playing. She scooted over to me, got under the blanket and fell asleep. HOW CUTE! She slept for an hour and a half with me. I felt so special!

I will end with a series of pictures of Mckenna moving (I wouldn't call it crawling yet) down the hall to get Daddy. It is so cute to listen to her and watch her move!

Swings and things...

I know I already posted a picture of Mckenna in the swing at the park but this picture is irresistible! I just LOVE it! We went to the park last night to play on the swings and slide down the slide but Mckenna was beyond tired so the trip didn't last long. :( I snapped a few shots though!
And DRUM-ROLL please.....
Yes! We did it...I know we have been talking about it FOREVER... but we finally took the first step! We put the house on the "not-so-good" market with hopes for a sucker buyer sometime soon. We are not getting our hopes up but trying to be positive! So send us some house selling love!

Welcome Baby Brooke!

Well, she finally made her appearance! Brooke Nancy Meade was born April 23, 2006. She weighed 9lbs 4oz and she has some dark hair!!! We were so happy to make it to Iowa shortly after she was born. The Meade family went home on Sunday and all is well so far!

Here are a few more snapshots of Brooke!
And... this wouldn't be a post if I didn't talk about our little princess! She is not crawling yet. We thought she would surely have it down by the weekend but she isn't quite ready yet. She has discovered that she can roll wherever she needs to go. We will see how long it takes her to crawl now! She has found some new fun things about her voice. She has realized that she can scream. As Auntie Lala said, "she doesn't discriminate, she screams when she is happy or mad"! Here are a few snapshots of Mckenna this weekend.

I will leave you with this last picture, Grandpa with his two grand-babies. He is so proud of them. I only wish we would have stuck Grandma in with him!

Welcome to the world Baby Brooke!

Fun Filled Weekend!

We love this weather! It has been mid 60's - 70's around here and it is great! The yard is looking good and the flowers are starting to peek out!
Mckenna is getting ready to CRAWL! She is so frustrated right now and it is hard to get anything done. She wants you to sit with her and play all.the.time!!! On Saturday I was playing on the floor with her and she managed to move from the carpeted area to the door (backwards) on her belly. She would get up on her hands and knees, rock back and forth then give up and flop on her tummy.
We played photo session on Saturday. I am trying to learn about my new camera and I think I did an OK job! I needed to iron out the blanket and I NEED Matt to help Mckenna smile... maybe next time!

On Saturday Mckenna and I also helped Daddy clean out the garage. Mckenna enjoyed using her new "drinking cup" in her stroller and laughing at Daddy!

On Sunday we went to the park for the first time. Mckenna LOVED the swings! When we pulled her out to leave she was a little upset!
When we returned home we grilled out! Mckenna helped Daddy put the meat on the grill, then did some playing in her Bumbo!
Sorry for the HUGE post! We had a GREAT weekend and enjoyed many "firsts" together! We know that next week's post will be dedicated to Mckenna and her first cousin BROOKE!!! We can't wait to welcome her to the world!!!

Beautiful Weekend

Beautiful... the church where Dillan received his First Communion on Sunday.
Matt and Kelly are his Godparents.

Beautiful... the love Matt shows everyday for our baby girl!

Beautiful... the way Mckenna looked all dressed up!
... and learning what grass feels like!

Beautiful... the way Mckenna plays with her new ribbon box from our Parent Educator.

Beautiful...Mckenna's smiling face after eating sweet potatoes for the first time.
...even though eating can be challenging sometimes!

Beautiful... Grandma VonBon coming down to visit this weekend. (I am sorry that I don't have a picture)

Beautiful... getting the patio furniture out from hibernation and enjoying some BBQ with Matt's parents and my mom!

We had a very busy weekend but it was great! The weather was absolutely beautiful and we had some great times with Matt's family and my mom! We are looking forward to Brooke's birthday... hopefully it will be this weekend. I can't wait to hold her in my arms!

Life is good!

Easter Weekend + 6 Month Baby Update

Easter Weekend
We had a very Happy Easter and hope you did too! We spent the weekend in Iowa to celebrate Grandma VonBon's birthday and Easter! We were hoping to celebrate the birth of Cousin Brooke... but that was just hopeful thinking!

Saturday Laura, Mckenna and I took mom shopping to help her celebrate her birthday and to spend the gift card to Jordan Creek that was burning a hole in her pocket! :)
Mckenna enjoyed the trip in her new ride. A lime green and black Chicco stroller! She obviously didn't want socks on, they were getting in the way of eating her toes! (Auntie Lala was very concerned about the barefoot... she may have a few lessons to learn in motherhood. When baby is happy we are all happy!)
Mckenna loved her new cherry hat so much that she wouldn't get into her car seat when it was time to go. She was giving Grandma a run for her money... something Mckenna is getting really good at these days! Can't you tell from her cute, little, mischievous face?
Playing with Grandpa before we left for Easter Service.
Laughing with Grandma before Easter Service.
We affectionately call Mckenna Nosy Rosy for a reason! Mckenna LOVES to look at everything that is going on around her. This is how enthralled she was with the service on Easter Sunday!
6 Month Baby Update
Mckenna had her 6 month check-up yesterday. She screamed when the nurse measured her head, when the nurse measured her length, when the nurse weighed her, when the doctor listened to her heart, when the doctor checked in her ears and mouth, and when the nurses gave her her shots! When the doctor finally said "alright, I'm leaving, BYE-BYE", Mckenna stopped screaming. She said Mckenna is looking perfect! She is 25 inches tall and weighs 14lbs 6oz. She is in the 25th percentile for her head circumference, weight and height. We are so happy that at her 9 month appointment she will not have any shots!!!
This is Mckenna this morning still sporting her pink camo band-aids from last night.

FUN & EXHAUSTING!

FUN!
We are having SO.MUCH.FUN with parenthood. We just love spending time with Mckenna. She changes everyday!
Mckenna loves to look at the remote and try to push the buttons. Matt had to figure out how to keep the remote from working because Mckenna was changing the channels on him! :)

Mckenna loves the Jumperoo because she is able to be upright. She especially likes it if we put the Jumperoo in front of the window or glass door so she can look out!

Matt and Mckenna had a ball last night playing with his hat. Mckenna was being such a ham. I wish I could post the whole series of pictures but that would just be too much!
Mckenna is working on sitting up on her own. She can sit for about a minute without falling over but if she reaches for something she will fall.
EXHAUSTING
As most of you know parenthood is exhausting too! While I love being a mommy, I miss those days of uninterrupted sleep! There for about two weeks Mckenna didn't value sleep as much as Mommy did. She was up several times during the night, sometimes wanting to be fed at 4:00. I.WAS.TIRED! I will never know why my little princess decides to sleep some nights better than others but I have some theories. I think she was hungry, so I started cereal. I also think she was learning to move more and this one she worked out on her own. Many nights she would end up on her stomach and she didn't like it, she would fuss until I came in to flip her over. Just in the last 4 nights she has taken to sleeping on her stomach and she doesn't cry anymore. Instead she SLEEPS! I still find myself exhausted but I guess I can't blame it on sleepless nights.

Again, I will say that I love parenthood and I am so glad that about 1 year ago Matt and I decided to change our lives by adding another to our family. Mckenna celebrated her 6 month birthday this weekend! We are so proud of her!
