A Post For Daddy!

Dear Daddy,
We sure do miss you but we are having fun! I had a good time swimming in Great Auntie Marge's pool. I wasn't even scared and I didn't even cry. I can't wait to see you tommorow!
Love, Mckenna

P.S. Enjoy the pictures of me swimming today!

Oh The Milestones!

First, I have to say this post has been in the working for so long! Sorry that it has been so long since I have written. Life in the Lucas house is BUSY! The past couple of weeks have been full of milestones and Mckenna is changing by the day!

We had to drop her mattress last Tuesday because for the first time Mckenna pulled herself up in her crib. If you look closely before we dropped the mattress the top of the crib came up to her chest, now she can  peek over the edge of her crib.
Mckenna will be eight months tomorrow and I can't believe it. Last night I was looking at our video camera and number one I couldn't believe that I had 74 videos saved on it and number two she has changed SO much! It is funny, when you are with her everyday you don't see the change as clearly as you do when you look back at her videos and pictures! I am sure you all know that already! I think I have said this before but at every stage (well, since she was about 3 months old) Matt and I talk about how much we "Love this stage!" and "She is so much fun". At almost eight months we are still saying this. I am amazed by this little girl everyday and I can't believe the transformation our family has taken since the day she was born!

OK... without further adieu.....AT EIGHT MONTHS MCKENNA CAN...

Pull herself up...
Crawl...
Play with her friend Carson...
Get on and off her Lion (with a little help)....
And look so adorable looking out the window! (Arguably her favorite place in our house!)
This has been eight months of my life I will never forget! Happy Eight Month Birthday Mckenna!

Nothing Goes Untouched

Mckenna is QUICK!!! She is officially into everything. I am staying home with Mckenna today due to a double ear infection and look where she managed to get herself...
That is right, between the couch and the end table. I couldn't believe it! She was going for the cords to the lamp and her monitor. Then she ended up like this...
All smiles perched on the bottom shelf of the end table. Despite the ear infection you can tell she is still pretty chipper. When I took this picture it made me think of a picture my mom has of either Laura or I perched on the bottom shelf of a book shelf. It must have been Laura because I can't imagine I would give my mom that much trouble as a toddler. Speaking of toddler, I received something in the mail the other day and it told me she would soon be a toddler. Where did the time go? Isn't she still a baby? For now I will still call her my baby, no toddler business!

She is starting to pull herself up onto things like me, Matt and the small ledge we have our T.V on! The other night she was playing with a musical table and was holding herself up in a standing position. I was sitting behind her and giving her a little support but for the most part she was doing all the work! I will have to snap a picture of her doing this soon. It is incredible to watch her grow and change everyday. More to come after the weekend...

On The Move!

Can you guess what this is?
Or how about this?
What about this?
Ok... I will stop! Look at Mckenna in her new walker. Grandma and Grandpa Lucas bought her a walker that we bring home every once in a while and Mckenna LOVES it! Gotta love the over sized pink Cardinals hat... we were cheering on the Cardinals and thought Mckenna should too! :)
We have not had such a good week in the Lucas household. Mckenna has decided to wake several times during the night and sometimes needs a bottle in the wee hours of the morning. I have been teaching 8th grade because my team went to camp. Boy those 8th graders are a tough crowd. I am thankful that I teach 6th! I am looking forward to another good weekend. The weather is supposed to be in the 60's a big change since it has been in the 80's most the week!

I wanted to add this picture....
of Mckenna sleeping. Last Sunday we were up playing early in the morning. I had my blanket and pillow on the floor as Mckenna and I were playing. She scooted over to me, got under the blanket and fell asleep. HOW CUTE! She slept for an hour and a half with me. I felt so special!

I will end with a series of pictures of Mckenna moving (I wouldn't call it crawling yet) down the hall to get Daddy. It is so cute to listen to her and watch her move!

Swings and things...

I know I already posted a picture of Mckenna in the swing at the park but this picture is irresistible! I just LOVE it! We went to the park last night to play on the swings and slide down the slide but Mckenna was beyond tired so the trip didn't last long. :( I snapped a few shots though!
And DRUM-ROLL please.....
Yes! We did it...I know we have been talking about it FOREVER... but we finally took the first step! We put the house on the "not-so-good" market with hopes for a sucker buyer sometime soon. We are not getting our hopes up but trying to be positive! So send us some house selling love!

Welcome Baby Brooke!

Well, she finally made her appearance! Brooke Nancy Meade was born April 23, 2006. She weighed 9lbs 4oz and she has some dark hair!!! We were so happy to make it to Iowa shortly after she was born. The Meade family went home on Sunday and all is well so far!

Here are a few more snapshots of Brooke!
And... this wouldn't be a post if I didn't talk about our little princess! She is not crawling yet. We thought she would surely have it down by the weekend but she isn't quite ready yet. She has discovered that she can roll wherever she needs to go. We will see how long it takes her to crawl now! She has found some new fun things about her voice. She has realized that she can scream. As Auntie Lala said, "she doesn't discriminate, she screams when she is happy or mad"! Here are a few snapshots of Mckenna this weekend.

I will leave you with this last picture, Grandpa with his two grand-babies. He is so proud of them. I only wish we would have stuck Grandma in with him!

Welcome to the world Baby Brooke!
