Mommies WORRY!

Clearly, I have fallen out of my routine of posting. I can't even find a good excuse other than I feel like life has been passing by in light years. Matt has been working overtime the last couple of weeks, which has helped the bank account but left a void in family time! Mckenna and I miss him every night but we loved the extra cash this weekend to buy new shoes! :) Sometimes I forget just how wonderful the hubby is but this last couple of weeks it has been hard to miss. Working overtime and still helping me out with laundry, dishes, and everyday up keep, makes Matt earn the title of SUPERDAD!

Mommies worry when their little baby becomes a toddler and begins to walk. They worry even more when their little toddler has become so much an expert at walking they begin running and climbing! I am guessing mommies worry all the time after they have little babies! Mckenna has become a climber. She climbs up onto the couch using the coffee table, she climbs up onto the end table using the couch, she climbs up onto the kitchen chairs, she climbs up onto the table at Grandma's, SHE CLIMBS ONTO ANYTHING SHE CAN. I try my hardest to be as relaxed as I can but man this climbing makes me worry! She knows how to get down from most situations safely and we haven't had any significant falls yet... (oops! knock on wood)

Last night this mommy was really worried! Mckenna was running towards the living room and tripped over her feet or the rug, it all happened so fast, and fell. She falls all the time but usually the door jam doesn't get in her way. This time when I scooped her up to give her lovin' I got a glimpse of a big, bluish/purple, knot on the top of her head. I felt so sorry for her and I worried. I called the dr., I watched her closely, I checked on her multiple times during the night... and she was ok! We made it through our first "head trauma"!

In other news... there isn't any! :) We are planning to make it to a pumpkin patch this weekend... that is if it doesn't rain and having some chili as we watch Mizzou beat Oklahoma!
Notice the purple bump on her head! Yeah, this is during dinner...

1 Year Check Up

After Mckenna's birthday party my mom stayed a couple of extra days. We had a good time! Sunday we went to the movies and Mckenna stayed home with daddy and Monday we went Downtown St. Charles to walk around. It was such a beautiful day and the leaves on the trees are just beginning to change. After the nice walk Mckenna had an appointment with the doctor. Thankfully mom was there for moral support. She said when Mckenna got her shots she screamed so loud that her nose turned purple. Poor baby! She was much more active this visit and it is amazing how much she has changed! She actually let the doctor touch her with out crying and screaming the whole time!

Happ Birthday Mckenna!

I know, I know... where have  I been? Big milestone and I don't even write! I started to write about what we did on her actual birthday and got side tracked. I have dated what I wrote prior to today.

September 29, 2010:
Well, Mckenna is ONE! A year ago today we were coming home from the hospital and getting settled into our home. I really can't believe it. The year has gone by so quickly, really time needs to slow down NOW! I am going to keep this short and simple today. We are having a family birthday party on Saturday and Monday is her one year check up. I will write then about her accomplishments and stats!

Today:
Mckenna's birthday party was a success. We all had so much fun watching Mckenna play and open her presents. We had chicken and hamburger sliders, pork'n'beans, chips'n'dip, fruit salad, carrots'n'dip, and cake! Mckenna got a savings bond, money, a piggy bank full of quarters, bath toys, a little chair, a toy she can ride on, Little People building blocks, a snowsuit and a book that is read to her by Grandma Neanie and Papa Ken. The weather was beautiful and I couldn't have picked a better day! Because it has been two weeks now and I still haven't gotten this totally written, I am going to just let the pictures do the talking!

Party in the Park

This was Mckenna's first year at the Party in the Park and she had a blast! She played with the other kids, on the playground, and walked some serious miles on all kinds of terrain. Needless to say she was tuckered out when we got home! Today was spent watching football and playing! Mckenna enjoyed her new shopping cart from Aunt Kelly. Sadly I didn't snap any pictures of her playing today but I am sure I will by next weekend. It is too cute to pass up!

A truck full of Lucas family second cousins!

Tomorrow is the big day! We have had many conversations today about what was going on one year ago from today. I was in a lot of pain and so ready to have her! I feel like I can still remember everything about it! Think of Mckenna tomorrow at 11:06, she will be officially ONE!

A Visit From The 6 Pack!

We had a BUSY, BUSY Saturday last weekend. Mckenna did her Momma a favor and slept very well Friday night and woke up at 7:30 Saturday morning! It was almost like she knew she was going to have a marathon day (with only a 30 minute nap!)! Around 9:30 we heard the soft vroom, vroom of The 6 Pack riding down Steeplechase Drive! Papa Ken, Uncle Jim and their biker buddies stopped by on their way to Nashville, TN. Mckenna didn't know what to think of them. She didn't crack many smiles while they were there but as soon as they left she was 'chatting' up a storm and was so happy! She was really happy to see Papa Ken, she held on to him with a tight grip and wouldn't even show the other guys her skills. Then she had her 1 year pictures. She did such a nice job and the process was pretty painless. We rushed home ate lunch and then went to a baby shower for Matt's cousin and his wife. After the shower we stopped off at Kohl's, then to dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings to root on the Tigers! Around 7:00 Mckenna was doing the sign for "all done" and she was ready to go! It was a long, fun day and Sunday was spent recovering from the little-to-no-nap day on Saturday!

Toys, Rams and Fire Trucks!

We had a great weekend. Saturday was mostly spent around the house and watching college football and playing with all of Mckenn's toys. Mckenna is getting more and more independent as the days pass. Charlene found the little people doll house at Once Upon a Child for a fraction of the price of a new one and she loves it. Many times we will look into the living room and find Mckenna doing this...
Sunday we were invited to Kelly's work tailgate party for the first Rams game. The highlight of the day was the appearance of the St. Louis Fire Truck. They stopped by for some lunch and the kids got to climb all over the truck. It was so fun to watch Mckenna, she is so adventurous and is NOT shy. She would just push her way around those 'bigger' kids to get to where she wanted to be. I probably took close to 60 pictures yesterday (I know, I might have a problem), here are some of my favorites...
Climbing the ramp to get into the building.
So happy to be on the fire truck!
Watch out I have fires to put out!

We had such a fun time that Mckenna was out on the way home.
Two weeks from today and our little baby is ONE.

Labor Day Weekend... Iowa Style!

We spent the holiday weekend in Iowa soaking up some sun and family fun! We had such a nice time! The weather was slightly cooler than it is here in MO so Mckenna got to wear some of her 9month clothes that I thought she would never get use out of! :) Saturday we cheered on the two teams of Black and Gold, MIZZOU and Iowa! Mckenna and Brooke looked so cute in their gear! Jeremy, Angela and Addison also came out on Saturday. It was so fun watching Addison and Mckenna interact. They have changed so much since July! Sunday we enjoyed the company of Jim, Marge, Karen, Chuck and Katie. It was so nice visiting with them. We are so sad to see the summer go, this being our last trip to the lake for boating. Enjoy the pictures from the weekend. I know I do every time I look at them! :)
Grandma Neanie and Papa Ken love their little MIZZOU fan!

I can't get over how big Mckenna is getting. I really can't get over the fact that my baby is really a toddler and will be ONE in three weeks. Oh how time has passed!
