Thanksgiving

I don't know what is wrong with me lately but I didn't bring my camera to Thanksgiving this year and I didn't get it out ONCE when mom and dad were here over the weekend. So if I had taken pictures this is what you would see... You would see a darling picture of Mckenna sitting at a little table gobbling up her Thanksgiving dinner which consisted of ham, sweet potatoes, a roll and a cookie. You would see a picture of her in her cute sweater dress in one picture and then a picture of her in her pajamas because she dumped milk all over her dress. You would see her playing hide and seek with dad. You would see her sitting at the end of the table with her two grandmas. We really did have a special weekend and LOVED the time home with Mckenna and our family. We went out to dinner, went bowling and ate a very nice dinner together!

I do have one picture of Mckenna and Matt making breakfast together on Thanksgiving morning and a picture of her in her Thanksgiving pajamas. (Don't mind the HORRIBLE shadow behind the picture of her in her Pajamas!)

Sunday after everyone left Mckenna and I put up the tree. Mckenna took the ornaments down as fast as I was putting them up. We now have a tree that is half decorated. Nice and pretty on the top and boring on the bottom! In between decorating the tree I tried to snap a few pictures. (Again there is a horrible shadow behind Mckenna in all of the pictures... boo... this momma photographer needs some more practice!)

Getting the little tree out.
And just before nap time I snapped a couple of pictures of Mckenna and Daddy reading a story and watching the game.

Baptism

November 7, 2010 Mckenna was finally baptized. We shared this event with Brooke as well. It was a wonderful weekend celebrated with the Meade, Lucas, and VonBon Families! Saturday the women went downtown to help Laura pick out cabinet colors and then ate at Spaghetti Works while the men watched football at Chris and Lauras' house. Mom made an incredible meal Saturday night for everyone, it was fun to have all of our family in one place! Sunday was the baptism followed by pizza at Godfather's! It was a fantastic weekend and I couldn't have dreamed of another way for Mckenna's baptism to be.

Have a good week! Love from the Lucas family!

Happy Halloween!

We had a fun weekend! Matt didn't have to work overtime on Saturday (yippee!!) so that freed up a lot of time for us to get some things done together! We took all of the summer yard 'things' in, boo, and did some quick shopping before Matt went to watch the Mizzou game with John. Sadly, they lost but I think he had a pretty good time anyway. Sunday, we started off the day at Kelly's work for their Halloween party. They had many games and things for the kiddos to play! Mckenna won the costume contest and won a bumblebee PillowPet. When Mckenna was looking tired we packed up and went home to take a nap. Unfortunately, Mckenna slept a little on the way home and when we put her in her crib for a nap we just heard little shrieks of laughter. I don't know what she was doing in there but it was fun to listen to her on the monitor. After her 'nap' we brought our pumpkin over to Matt's parents house to carve before Trick-or-Treating! The day was long, but fun! Enjoy some of the pictures from the day...

Pumpkinland...

Doesn't she look so sweet waving to you on that big, orange pumpkin? This weekend we went to the Pumpkinland at one of the local farms to enjoy the beautiful weather and farmlike things. It was a really neat place, complete with a market of fresh foods, pumpkins, animals, and pumpkinland! Pumpkinland was pretty cool. They used straw, tires, wood, and some kind of slick rubber to create a playland for kids. I will let some of the pictures do the talking! (In many of the pictures Mckenna looks dazed, I think it is because she couldn't stop watching all of the kids run around her.)
Sitting at the top of the straw pyramid!

A ride through the fields behind a KABOTA!

All that playing made someone tired!
Come on Papa John, we're ready to go home!
Have a great fall week! Love from the Lucas Family!

Mommies WORRY!

Clearly, I have fallen out of my routine of posting. I can't even find a good excuse other than I feel like life has been passing by in light years. Matt has been working overtime the last couple of weeks, which has helped the bank account but left a void in family time! Mckenna and I miss him every night but we loved the extra cash this weekend to buy new shoes! :) Sometimes I forget just how wonderful the hubby is but this last couple of weeks it has been hard to miss. Working overtime and still helping me out with laundry, dishes, and everyday up keep, makes Matt earn the title of SUPERDAD!

Mommies worry when their little baby becomes a toddler and begins to walk. They worry even more when their little toddler has become so much an expert at walking they begin running and climbing! I am guessing mommies worry all the time after they have little babies! Mckenna has become a climber. She climbs up onto the couch using the coffee table, she climbs up onto the end table using the couch, she climbs up onto the kitchen chairs, she climbs up onto the table at Grandma's, SHE CLIMBS ONTO ANYTHING SHE CAN. I try my hardest to be as relaxed as I can but man this climbing makes me worry! She knows how to get down from most situations safely and we haven't had any significant falls yet... (oops! knock on wood)

Last night this mommy was really worried! Mckenna was running towards the living room and tripped over her feet or the rug, it all happened so fast, and fell. She falls all the time but usually the door jam doesn't get in her way. This time when I scooped her up to give her lovin' I got a glimpse of a big, bluish/purple, knot on the top of her head. I felt so sorry for her and I worried. I called the dr., I watched her closely, I checked on her multiple times during the night... and she was ok! We made it through our first "head trauma"!

In other news... there isn't any! :) We are planning to make it to a pumpkin patch this weekend... that is if it doesn't rain and having some chili as we watch Mizzou beat Oklahoma!
Notice the purple bump on her head! Yeah, this is during dinner...

1 Year Check Up

After Mckenna's birthday party my mom stayed a couple of extra days. We had a good time! Sunday we went to the movies and Mckenna stayed home with daddy and Monday we went Downtown St. Charles to walk around. It was such a beautiful day and the leaves on the trees are just beginning to change. After the nice walk Mckenna had an appointment with the doctor. Thankfully mom was there for moral support. She said when Mckenna got her shots she screamed so loud that her nose turned purple. Poor baby! She was much more active this visit and it is amazing how much she has changed! She actually let the doctor touch her with out crying and screaming the whole time!

Happ Birthday Mckenna!

I know, I know... where have  I been? Big milestone and I don't even write! I started to write about what we did on her actual birthday and got side tracked. I have dated what I wrote prior to today.

September 29, 2010:
Well, Mckenna is ONE! A year ago today we were coming home from the hospital and getting settled into our home. I really can't believe it. The year has gone by so quickly, really time needs to slow down NOW! I am going to keep this short and simple today. We are having a family birthday party on Saturday and Monday is her one year check up. I will write then about her accomplishments and stats!

Today:
Mckenna's birthday party was a success. We all had so much fun watching Mckenna play and open her presents. We had chicken and hamburger sliders, pork'n'beans, chips'n'dip, fruit salad, carrots'n'dip, and cake! Mckenna got a savings bond, money, a piggy bank full of quarters, bath toys, a little chair, a toy she can ride on, Little People building blocks, a snowsuit and a book that is read to her by Grandma Neanie and Papa Ken. The weather was beautiful and I couldn't have picked a better day! Because it has been two weeks now and I still haven't gotten this totally written, I am going to just let the pictures do the talking!
