The Birthday Girl!

So this girl...
is TWO! TWO, I can't believe it! But really, I can't believe how fast time goes by and her birthday was actually two weeks ago! SO, the highlights...

We started off at the doctor's office for a check up for my TWO year old and TWO month old! Both are growing like weeds and are as healthy as can be!
Then a trip to the zoo was in order! Charlene, Mckenna, Quentin and I spent a glorious Tuesday afternoon  soaking up the Autumn sun and animals! Each time we go to the zoo I try to do something new. This time we saw the sting rays. Charlene was the only brave one to stick her hand in the water and have the slimy things swim under her! Mckenna enjoyed watching, that is for sure!
After the zoo we went home for naps! We had to get ready for the big party that night! Mckenna invited some of her friends to McDonald's for dinner and playing! It ended up being Mckenna and her two boyfriends, Michael and Carson. They ran around that place for about an hour and a half, it was too cute!
And we ended the week with a party filled with family and fun! Mckenna dressed in her new tu-tu and sparkly number 2 shirt and ran around the house like a crazy girl! She was blessed with lots of love and cool gifts that day!
Oh yeah.... did I mention Auntie Lala was here?
We had a great week celebrating Mckenna's 2nd birthday and I think I might finally have recouped!

This guy... he's TWO months old already!                And this girl...she's TWO years old!

(sigh) Be still my heart, be still!

Have a great week, or two weeks or maybe even three weeks (since I can't seem to find the time to update)! Love from the Lucas Family!

Oh yeah, GO CARDS!!!!!
*For those of you reading this through e-mail be sure to actually visit the site, there are new pictures of the family up!

We're Still Here

Just very busy!! Life has been moving on at a fast pace and there is so much to share! I am back to work now so it will be even harder to find the time for blogging but I am determined to keep it up; I love the fact that I have a great log of our family's special moments!

Mckenna: Mckenna has really gotten used to having a brother. She is a great help when we ask her to get things for us. She is a little rough with baby brother sometimes but she loves him and this is her way of showing it. Lately, Mckenna has been into movies. She has several favorites but currently she is loving Rio and Tangled. I have been waiting and waiting for Mckenna to get into coloring and the time has come! We can spend nearly an hour at the table coloring and using "sickers". She loves to use note cards, post-its and notebooks to write on. She gets this really cute, serious face when she is writing. I LOVE it! Her vocabulary is amazing! When we were in Iowa over Labor Day she called her "ma-ma" (Grandma Charlene) and said the following sentence, "I swimmin Marge's pool"! AMAZING isn't it? There are less and less quiet moments in our house as one of Mckenna's favorite things to do these days is scream and talk! Here are some pictures of Mckenna from the last month or so...

Quentin:Quentin continues to grow and spend more time awake. He still loves to be swaddled, which I think is crazy! Many times if we can't get him to fall asleep the magic missing factor is the swaddle! He is officially smiling intentionally! When we were in Iowa over Labor Day weekend he perfected his abilities, smiling most often at Papa Ken! :) He is a strong little boy. He can hold his head up quite well and doesn't need to be held so carefully anymore. (Ya know, holding his head so it doesn't bobble off!) He is starting to intentionally bat at objects over his head. He loves to kick and play under his little play mat. He has met even more family members in Iowa as well as Missouri lately! I can tell that Quentin is probably going to be a mover just like his big sister! Here are some recent pictures of Q-Dog:

Quentin was also baptized on September 4th.We had him baptized at Hope just like Mckenna. Aunt Kelly is his Godmother. After the baptism it was back to the lake house for steaks and boating. It was a beautiful day and spent with loved ones!

Life just keeps on going! Hopefully I will be able to get another post in sooner rather than later! :) Have a great week!

Busy.... Busy.... Busy!

I missed my weekly post the last couple of weeks because I have been busy. I had both kids home last week with the exception of Wednesday because I went to school and Charlene came over to watch the kids. I was at school last Thursday with both the kids and that night I attended open house. But as I told my coworkers and my sub I am done worrying about school now! My room is set for the time being and there are plans in place for the sub. Now, I am going to soak up my time with the kids for the next couple of weeks!

Two weeks ago Laura, Chris and Brooke arrived on Friday night. We enjoyed Stefanina's Pizza for dinner and when the kids went to bed we watched a movie. Saturday Aunt Marge and Uncle Jim joined us. We had a relaxing day and then the adults went out for dinner and some drinks. Sunday morning we made it down to the zoo. It was fun seeing some things that Mckenna and I have not yet seen this summer.

Not a real penguin :)
We really enjoyed the weekend with everyone. I have more to write about but not enough time today... I hope to write more tomorrow or over the weekend!

WE HAVE TWO KIDS...

TWO KIDS...
Two kids that we love to pieces and so far love each other just as much! (so we think!) It seems we have adjusted to having two kids in our house. We don't have any particular routine yet, which is to be expected. Mckenna has really been Matt's little buddy and has quite an attachment to him. She gets very anxious if Matt leaves and has had a hard time letting him go to work in the morning when he drops her off at Grandma Charlene's. Quentin has had more waking hours in the day lately. He seems to be awake for about an hour or an hour and a half after every feeding. Mckenna's screaming and playing doesn't seem to bother him and he is a good sport when Mckenna is trying to help put (shove) his binki in his mouth or help pat on his back.

Last weekend we had some Lucas family visitors. Kelly and Brian came in to enjoy some BBQ and quality time with the kids. Mckenna really warmed up to Brian this time. She drug him into her room and played with his phone. She also sat next to him on the floor while watching a "mojie" (movie). Matt's Uncle Tim and his family also came over. Quentin was held a lot and by the end of the day he was tuckered out!
Mckenna and Brian hanging out on the floor together! :)
Life has definitely slowed down quite a bit. The weather is still WAY too hot and we are all looking for a break so we can get out more often!

Have a great week! Love from the Lucas Family!

Welcome Baby Quentin!

We are happy to announce that Quentin James Lucas was born on July 21, 2011! He was 7 pounds 3 ounces and 20 inches long! When Mckenna met Quentin for the first time she sang "Rock-a-bye, Baby" to him and gave him countless kisses. She wanted to hold and carry him like she does with her dolls! Kelly got a quick video of Mckenna rocking Quentin and put it up on Facebook but we didn't get it on our video camera. (BOO, that is what happens when Momma is stuck in a bed!)

We brought Quentin home on Saturday morning and started adjusting right away! John and Charlene planned a nice welcome home meal for us Saturday night as well as a friend of mine brought over a meal. We didn't go hungry that is for sure! :) It is nice to know we have so many people caring for us! Mom and Dad left in the morning on Sunday and it has been just the four of us since. Quentin is still in the honeymoon phase I think... he pretty much eats, sleeps and poops! Mckenna is adjusting, she is quite the helper and loves to give kisses to her little brother! I am feeling ok, I am sore and trying to keep myself from pushing it too far. (Something that is hard for me to do!) Matt has been a big help and a great daddy to both his kids.

For now I am going to post some pictures. If you want to see the hospital pictures you can visit: www.bellababyphotography.com, go to view pictures, then use the password 0721quentinlucas1. We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the CD to make prints and birth announcements! They are excellent pictures and I couldn't be happier!

A Couple of Firsts...

Last week Mckenna had her first hair cut. I was very nervous about the whole situation and to be honest I put it off as long as I could. Mckenna was beginning to grow a mini-mullet and that was not good! All in all the hair cut went well. She watched some Barney and played with a puzzle while the hairdresser snipped away. I was amazed at the hairdresser's patience and ability to cut while Mckenna moved. The only thing Mckenna was not cooperative with was getting her hair washed, so we just left that part out! The hairdresser put her hair in cute piggy-tails, took the momentous picture and we were done!
What are you doing to me?
Looking at a puzzle with Daddy.
She was so interested in the car and wouldn't look up at me so I  told her there was a monkey in my camera. This is the look I got...
On Thursday Grandma Charlene took Dillan, Ella and Mckenna to the pool. Believe it or not Mckenna has not been to a public pool yet. The pool they went to had a little splash pad and a kiddie pool. Mckenna had a blast splashing around in the water and playing with Grandma. When I got there she had to show me what she could do!
We also went to the Zoo again on Friday with my friend Jamie and her son Carson! We had a great time! We went to the Children Zoo, saw the penguins, a bear, the butterflies and rode the train. The kids got to play in the water in the Children Zoo and I think that was the highlight of their day. By the time we left they were very tired, so tired they fell asleep before we left the parking lot!
It was another great week! I love that I get to spend summers with Mckenna and I wouldn't change that for anything! :)

We are down to the wire now, more of a waiting game than anything. I think everyone in the house can sense the changes coming! I am hoping this baby checks out of his hotel A.S.A.P and comes home! Have a good week! Love from the Lucas Family!
